OSID Emitters are equipped with an acrylic lens and are therefore not normally proneto condensation. However in some extremely moist environments, condensationmay nevertheless occur on the lens. Slow forming condensation can produce anunacceptably large loss of signal. To prevent that from occurring, the Emitter lens canbefitted with an anti-condensationfilm. Thefilm can be quickly and easily applied tothe lens without the need for special tools or adhesives.
Thefilm prevents condensation from forming and keeps the lens clear.Note however that thefilm causes a 10% reduction in maximum detection distance.A damp cloth can be used to clean thefilm if it becomes contaminated. The combination of thefilm and the algorithms in the Imager offer a cost-effectivesolution for condensation susceptible areas. The OSID Imager has a built-in heater and thefilm should not be used on Imagers.
In harsh environments where the OSID-EH environmental housings are used andcondensation is expected, both Emitter and Imager housing can befitted with an anti-condensationfilm.
When applied on Emitter and Imager housing there is a 20% reduction in maximumdetection distance.
